The Peace River Watershed Council is a non-governmental forum for the protection and enhancement of the Peace region's watersheds and fisheries resources for the benefit of present and future generations.

Considerable effort is directed at determining regional and local priorities for habitat conservation and stewardship.

Since 2000, the Watershed Council have administered over $200,000 of funding to support the following initiatives.

  • City of Dawson Creek “Kiskatinaw Integrated Watershed Plan”
  • Charlie Lake Conservation Society “Charlie Lake Fish & Fish Habitat Study” and “Stewardship & Education Project”
  • B.C. Conservation Foundation “Winter Fish Habitat Assessment" and “Fish Passage Study”
  • North East Aboriginal Trappers “Snake River Fish Awareness Study”
  • Organizational capacity-building, fund-raising and project development
  • Lakeshore Stewardship clinics, and public awareness
